Since the launch of the Apple App Store, the iPhone has become so much more than just a phone and is quickly establishing itself as the phone of choice. There are plenty of apps choices available for photographers that can both help your photography as well as come in handy in more general business sense. Here are the apps that stand out for us:
PhotoBuddy (£1.19) - Photographic calculator
This is a great app with a well-designed and easy to use interface. It has a toolbar at the bottom of the app giving you access to all sorts of calculators including exposure calculations based on scenes, flash exposure, interactive depth-of-field and hyperfocal calculator , a grayscale ramp to help set white balance in your photos; and much more. It includes sunrise and sunset times as well as more specialised tools which are tucked away in a menu. Thumbs up for this all around assistant!
Simple DoF Calculator (£1.19) - Depth of Field Calculator
This very easy to use app does one thing but does it well. It allows you to calculate the depth of field and hyperfocal distance to any given settings. All you need to do is dial in your camera, focal length, aperture and focus distance and the resulting depth of field is illustrated for you on the screen. It is that easy...

These are quick reference guides for Canon models 30D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi, Rebel XS , 5D, and the 5D Mark II allowing for a convenient way to look up easily forgotten details on the go. Note that the guides are mainly aimed at enthusiasts rather than pros.
PhotoJot (£1.79) - Tagger and Notebook
PhotoJot allows you to record a voice note or type in a text note linked to a geotag for a gps location and an iPhone photo. This app can come in handy when looking for new locations and planning future shooting sessions.
